Meet The Author ~ Kate Sully
Hello, world! Welcome to my website and blog.
I’m Kate Sully. I am many things, but above all, a writer.

I mostly write Young Adult fiction novels, but I often find myself dabbling in various genres and subgenres, writing short stories, poems, songs, and essays in my spare journals and even within my novels. And now here I am, starting my blog (finally)! On this platform, I’ll talk about a range of topics, but before diving straight into the content and throwing random posts out here, I figured I should share a little more about myself and what things you can expect to find me blogging about in the future!
So -- let’s move on to some of those “many things” I mentioned.

I am a 90s baby and young millennial, a Gemini, an Enneagram 4, and who knows what other personality and generation types you could assign me. As I write this, I reside in Ohio, about a half-hour east of Cleveland (where I usually end up telling people I’m from, since my town is small and generally unheard of). I live with my husband, Christian, and our two dogs - the red tick coonhound, Elliot (Ellie) Leia, and her son the border collie mix, Samwise (Sam) Kenobi Chewbacca. From this information, I take it you’ve gathered that we are huge dorks, and you’d be correct.

Among many other fandoms, I am a lover of all things fine arts. I was a dancer for 17 years, I’m a certified yoga instructor to this day, I’ve played 7 different instruments throughout the years, performed in many plays and musicals from chorus to leading roles, I’ve taken up painting and photography in recent years, and of course, I’m a HUGE book and writing nerd.
I have three college degrees, the most recent being an MFA in creative and professional writing with a concentration in fiction writing. I am also a huge nerd for school - of all the hats I’ve worn, “student” has always been a favorite.
It’s no wonder I’ve moved into a semi-teaching role, as the host of a local writer's group called The Scribblers, where fellow creatives get together and share our work, feedback, and expertise/advice.

Aside from my family, career, and the arts, I’m very passionate about health and more specifically, spreading awareness about chronic and mental illnesses. Between my husband and I, we have more life-long physical and mental health issues than you can count on one hand, and while it’s a struggle at times, it also gives each of us a sense of strength, fearlessness, and empathy that we might not have otherwise. If our experiences and hindsight could potentially be helpful or comforting to even one person, or help one person become more understanding of someone in their life with chronic or mental illness, then that’s worth it to me, and it’s exactly why I’m so loud on these kinds of topics. If you’re anything like me -- You are not alone!

I often write about the arts, chronic or mental illness, love and friendship, grief, and general identity crises that come with growing up (remember, I’m a YA writer). In this blog, you may find ranting essays on any of these subjects, as well as book reviews, book-to-screen adaptation reviews, writing tips, lists like favorite or least favorite books, college tips, and more things that take up space in my brain and demand to be written.
If you’ve read this far, thanks! I hope you feel like you’ve gotten to know me a little and that you’ll come back and check out this blog again in the future. I promise I’ll try to stay semi-cool and not be a total dork all the time. In the meantime, make sure you subscribe to my email newsletter and follow me on social media!
Til next time.
K.S.
